Cara Delevingne | I'm Not A Trophy

Model and actress Cara Delevingne poses naked for new campaign 'I'm Not A Trophy', founded by photographer of the shoot, French artist Arno Elias. The campaign focuses on raising awareness of trophy hunting and poaching of endangered animals. Imagery of animals including a Gorilla, Zebra and Elephant were projected onto Delevingne's skin as she posed.

I love the images from this campaign, I feel they portray the message of the campaign really powerfully. I particularly like how the colourful projections stand out beautifully amongst the black and white images. Delevingne, known for her love of Animals I feel was the perfect model to take star in this campaign. Not only is she a high profile, highly regarded and respected celebrity but her feelings and beliefs about this topic are genuine as she has also made her love for animals known. Delevingne took to Instagram to share images from the shoot, she captioned one post 'I am so proud to be the ambassador of @imnotatrophy organization to create greater awareness in the malicious acts of trophy hunting and poaching of endangered species!'

Fashion Design | Garment Photo Shoot

Earlier on this week I took part in a photo shoot as a favour for my friend and fashion design student, Despina. 'The Colour Project' is her last project as a first year student and she was required to photograph her final piece, a grey equestrian jacket. She collaborated with a first year photography student and I modelled the jacket for the shoot. The hat and the ankle boots I was styled with were used to create an equestrian feel, which was the inspiration for jacket, which was obviously the focus of the shoot. Prior to the shoot the photographer Beth had walked around Nottingham and found a range of locations she felt were appropriate and would work effectivley alongside the jacket for the shoot. Below I have displayed a few of my favourite shots, with the day of the shoot being so bright and sunny, some of the shots include strong shadowing which I particularly like!

I really enjoyed the experience of the shoot and having the chance to work alongside other creative students who I will hopefully have the chance to collaborate with in the future.

Photo Shoot Ideas Prep

As part of the fragrance project I am currently enduring I am putting together a brand and as part of this, next week my group and I will be conducting a photo shoot. As preparation for the shoot, todays lecture and seminar were focused around photo shoots and the pre, during and post production of them.

We looked at how images use..
Conceptual based ideas - art, film, performance.
Prop based ideas - 'flat lay', 'joke on scale', 'location stand-in', 'prop as placement'.
Humour based ideas - accessories, casting, make up.
Referencing based ideas - historical reference, cultural reference.
Humour based ideas - accessories, make up, casting.
Location based ideas - composition, montage, fake it.
Casting based ideas - real/anti beauty, anti-type, anti-gender, anti-solo.
Tech based ideas - photo technique, paper quality, print quality.
Lighting base ideas - projection, acetates, motion blur, white out, overlay, not light but dark.

I have chosen to focus on 6 of the above categories (Prop, Colour, Humour, Casting, Lighting, Colour and Styling) and by flicking through some magazines I have found some examples which demonstrate these approaches and have displayed some of my favourites below.

Insight Comparison And Analysis Report

As you probably know the brief I am currently enduring is based around fragrance, how fabulous! In the section of the brief I have been focusing on over the last couple of weeks I was required to produce an Insight Comparison and Analysis Report. This report was based around the three ideas my team had selected and which insights had inspired them. Towards the end of the report I was to discuss how I felt these ideas which lead to my selection of the idea I felt had the most substance and could potentially be the most successful. Below are a handful of pages I have photographed from the finished report.

The three ideas and the insights behind these ideas that my team and I individually discussed within our reports were;

1. Sports apparel with micro-encapsulated fabric which releases scent through movement.
2. A cologne for the older man.
3. A fragrant bath time bubble machine for babies.

After finally completing our reports, my team were required to meet and discuss which of the three ideas was our personal favourite, which was to be selected and taken through into the next stages of the brief. Luckily each of us had selected the same idea (A fragrant bath time bubble machine for babies). So without any disagreement we were able to continue the brief along with our final selection.

My Trip To London

Last Tuesday, I was lucky enough to visit London where I was able to have a mooch around and collect some primary evidence and research to support and inspire the fragrance module I am currently enduring. I managed to visit as many stores as I could in the space of 10 hours (it was a long day to say the least, but worth it of course), ranging from large department stores such as Selfridges and Liberty, down to the small niche independent stores. Below I have displayed a handful of photographs I took whilst in London, including aesthetically pleasing visual merchandise, bottle/packaging designs I liked, places I visited and anything else which caught my eye!

St Christophers Place - 'Urban Garden' floral installation created by
Rebecca Louise Law.
Fresh by Moschino - the only disappointment is the fact it doesn't spray
from the pump, its simply a lid!
I love the simplicity of these flowers used within visual merchandising for
Flower By Kenzo.
The cloudy effect of the Si limited edition liquid is something different
and unique.
Viktor & Rolf visual merchandising for Flowerbomb, so very girly.
Jo Malone looking as aesthetically pleasing as ever.
Bonbon by Viktor & Rolf.
Guerlain.
A colour palette to die for.
The Simplistic visual merchandising of And Other Stories.
And Other Stories.
Liberty.
The most inviting flower stall outside of Liberty.
Liberty.
I love the simplistic, vintage feel of this packaging.
Killian.
Homewares by Killian.
'The finest fragrances in the world'.
Roja Dove.
Chanel N°5... of course.
Penhaligon's.
These bows were placed outside of Penhaligons to be used as fragrance blotters.
The sweetest bottle designs.
Frederic Malle.
Ormonde Jayne.
Alexander McQueen Window display featuring McQueen Parfum by
famed set designer Shona Heath.
Lush.
Lush colours, Lush scents.
Arabian Oud.
Thank you for reading!
